Sacred Plants: Grain,wheat,barley, and the penny royal: a type of mint and the poppy were sacred to this Goddess. The mint was part of a drink consumed at her temple in Eleusis.
Organizations & Business named after Demeter The Daughters of Demeter, an organization of women who share an interest in agriculture, founded in 1917 and who provide scholarships to CALS students, plant bulbs in Allen Centennial Gardens. One of the organizations service projects is to plant about 1500 bulbs in the gardens.This group is named after Demeter the Green goddess of agriculture and fertility
There is a also a flower named after Demeter, it was said that demeters require human blood to grow.They can grow from ground where the blood has been spilled,or traditionally from the chest of a fresh human corpse.Demeter flowers still are out and are great in spring.
In conclusion I believe that Demeter was a very loving and peaceful god. I respect her and i can trust her to be my friend. She believes every woman should love and nurture within her own family and the world. She also reminds us to stand firm for what is good and right,even in the face of adversity when forces are against us.
